Healing

The acknowledgment of our weakness is the first step in repairing our loss. --Thomas a Kempis

Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message)

image

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

Galatians 2:19-21

Through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.

Live Passionately

Choosing to live passionately is to live on the edge of discovery and adventure again. It requires both daring trust and humble respect. Jeff Imbach

Rescuing

"rescue |ˈreskyoō|: to save." However, to rescue someone you love from emotional pain may not necessarily be saving them, but might merely be postponing the glorious inevitable - growth through struggle!

Life's Journey

image

The purpose of life's journey is to live relationally with God so that His Love can be poured into us, by the Holy Spirit. We were created by Love, for Love and to Love. --Renee Brunette

God Likes You

image

We've all heard God loves us, but for some that's become a cliche. Maybe a better realization is that God actually likes us. To like someone is to enjoy their company! So know this, God enjoys your company!!!!!

One Thing

All of Life comes down to just one thing, and that's to know You oh Jesus, and to make You known! --Charlie Hall

Father/father

image

We often have a mistaken idea of Who our Father God is simply because we still see Him through the eyes we had as a child who only saw our earthly father.

Identity

image

“Whose” are you is more important than who you are. We often identify ourselves by what we do or how well we do. But when we embrace Who we belong to, we can do or not do anything and still be somebody pretty special!

The Process of Transformation

Through the staff of TBC Ministries, Jesus tenderly ministers to people by helping them uncover the root problem that hinders their ability to experience God’s love and express His life.  Each person is assisted in recognizing the unique strategies they have adopted, as they have tried to make life work, in their own strength.  Lies believed are identified and practical tools are given to help them renew their minds with God’s truth. As they learn to honestly dialogue with God, His Spirit transforms them by revealing the truth to their minds, setting them free from the lies that have kept them in bondage.

As a person’s thoughts and perceptions begin to line up with God’s truth, things begin to change.  The Holy Spirit lovingly turns their soul (mind, will and emotions) from an outward dependence on self and others to meet their needs (love, security, and purpose), toward an inner relationship with the One who is love and will meet all their needs.  Our heavenly Father longs to reveal to His children their real self (new human spirit) that has not only been made new, but is now acceptable and one with Christ.  (1 Cor. 6:17)

As Father gently leads His children through a process of brokenness and surrender, He enables them to see the futility of relying on their old ways and gives them faith to walk in their new identity.  Then, the journey of learning to depend on Christ in all areas of their lives, moment by moment, begins!  The staff of TBC Ministries comes alongside each person to walk them through this process.

I have been crucified with Christ; and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Counseling Model

Our counseling model is referred to as “spiritual coaching”.  Coaching includes spiritual as well as educational aspects and is geared for believers who have, by faith, trusted in Christ for forgiveness of sins and received eternal life.  It is also for those who desire to do so.

Personal spiritual coaching with TBC Ministries is based on a perspective referred to as “Christ-as-Life” (John 10:10b, 15:5; Galatians 2:20). When an individual participates in this model of counseling, it is expected that his/her desire is to mature in Christ and to know Him more intimately. This perspective will be the focus of all counseling, individual or marital. Our belief is that there is a spiritual issue underlying the presenting problem. Therefore, the focus of our spiritual coaching is not on behavior change, but on spiritual transformation of the individual.

There is a specific process involved in this model of counseling; whether it be for couples or individuals. It begins with identifying the problem, obtaining a personal history, understanding the problem from a biblical perspective and establishing goals for counseling.  The process also includes identifying wrong beliefs and defeating behaviors that contribute to the presenting problem and affect relationships. After this, each person will be introduced to the Christ-as-Life solution.
