Tina Blaney Tina Blaney was raised in the church. However, as a youth, she was disillusioned and disappointed by Christians, in general, and her family, in particular. During that time, her parents divorced and her siblings left home. Finding the extreme loneliness unbearable, she turned to alcohol, to self-medicate, and to anorexia, which gave her a sense of control over her environment.
It wasn’t until after she married Brian Blaney and they had their only child, Patricia, that she saw a need for God. Only this time, she would do it on her terms. Viewing God as the distant and disappointed father she had experienced on earth, she endeavored to prove herself worthy of His love and affection. However, joining the local church and saying “Yes” to every ministry opportunity and bible study left Tina feeling even emptier than before. Her drinking increased and she began to have panic attacks. Suicidal and afraid to leave her home, she realized she would have to seek help. A lifelong journey began when God revealed Himself to her and, at that time, she accepted Christ as her Savior. The experience of being set free from addiction opened the door for her to begin to trust God as her “real” Daddy.
Several years later, in a “Be Transformed” class led by Renee Brunette, Tina experienced more layers being peeled from her facade. Thinking she was there to learn to minister to others, she, instead, realized the lies she was believing, as God revealed truth to her. The real Tina emerged. Joy and laughter replaced anger and pain. She would never be the same again!
Passionate about sharing these truths, Tina completed additional courses under Renee. Included were: Pneumanetics, Facilitator Training and Ministry Skills Training. Renee also mentored her in one-on-one counseling. The seven years she had devoted to Bible Study Fellowship finally made sense as she began to experience God’s grace and love in her life.
Tina will tell you that her experience of leading small groups for over fifteen years and her involvement in numerous ministries pales in comparison to the last six years of ministry with Renee. It was through this loving relationship that ashes were turned to beauty. God has given her a passion to come alongside the brokenhearted, the unloved and those who are struggling. These are the children her Daddy wants to hold and heal. She is humbled and honored to be used by Him. He has given her the family she always wanted, through her brothers and sisters in Christ. God is faithful and Tina says, “just call me Blessed!”
